Released in 1971 ‘Tapestry’ was the second studio album by Carol King. It received four Grammy Awards in 1972 including Album of the Year and was the first female to be awarded a Diamond RIAA award in the United States.
Carole King started her music career in the songwriting writing songs for a living with husband Gerry Goffin. They were good and they were successful penning hits for The Monkees Aretha Franklin and The Shirelles.
After parting from Goffin Carole moved to the West Coast of the USA and began a solo career. This exploded into world-wide success with her second LP the timeless Tapestry. Although there are many terrific songs on subsequent albums it is her sophomore release that guarantees her immorality.
